Dr Charles Ng is a medical doctor passionate about the crossroads of health and technology. At Johns Hopkins, Dr Ng founded the Digital Health Society for healthcare providers, computer scientists and engineers to work together. During his stint as President of the society, he led the Covideo19 project to dispel misinformation about the pandemic across more than 40 countries in the world. He also co-authored the Digital Solutions for COVID-19 Response for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in collaboration with the Global Health Initiative of Johns Hopkins.
Back in HK, Dr Ng continues to promote the role of technology in healthcare. He believes the health industry should ride the wave of artificial intelligence to improve population health outcomes. The goal of the health tech group is to pool people who are passionate about health informatics to exchange ideas. Crucially, Dr Ng believes technology should exist to empower healthcare providers to make informed clinical decisions for the benefit of patients. Building bridges across some siloed start-ups, vendors and users creates conversations about how best to apply technology to the health system.
