Mr. Melvin CHOI Mr. Melvin Choi is the CIO of Hong Kong Adventist Hospital (HKAH) and Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital (TWAH). Mr. Choi received his bachelor degree and master degree in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska of United States. In December 1975, Mr. Choi started his Healthcare IT career with the Department of Public Institutions, a state government hospitals organization for Nebraska, USA. In June 1980, Mr. Choi joined IBM in Hong Kong and spent the next 11 years taking up various positions in marketing and implementing Patient Care System, IBM��s healthcare solution, in Hong Kong and America/Far East countries. In June 1990, he was the master mind behind the IBM business case for winning the Princess Margaret Hospital HIS (Hospital Information System) tender, the first HIS project in Hong Kong. In January 1992, Mr. Choi joined the then newly established Hospital Authority (HA) with the primary responsibility to establish the Clinical Systems section and clinical related information systems. He was the chief architect behind the 1st generation Clinical Management System (CMS); the system widely used by all the front line clinicians of all HA hospitals and clinics during the performance of their clinical management duties. In September 2006, Mr. Choi took up the CIO position for both HKAH and TWAH. He has convinced the AHHK board of directors to approve a 4 years (2007 to 2010) HIS strategic plan. Subsequently he has submitted a 2nd 4 years (2011 to 2014) HIS strategic plan including the introduction of RIS/PACS and clinical mobile solution to 2 hospitals, workflow automation middleware, and a standard hardware & software platform for development and deployment of J2EE web applications. |
