Technology is increasingly becoming a competitive edge for financial institutions, as a crucial factor in remaining resilient and efficient. How is technology driving the future of global capital markets against the backdrop of the global pandemic? Which of the emerging technologies of “ABCD” (AI, blockchain, cloud computing, and data) can truly rewrite the fundamentals of the financial industry? What is the potential for Hong Kong to become a go-to capital market for fintech and new economy companies? What role does it play in funding the growth of technology and innovation in the Greater Bay Area? During his opening fireside chat, HKEX Chief Executive Charles Li will share his vision on how innovation is transforming the global financial industry and the trends and opportunities for HKEX and Hong Kong.

Charles Li has served as Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) since 2010. In this role, Mr. Li has orchestrated some of the most significant strategic initiatives in HKEX’s history, including the acquisition of the London Metal Exchange in 2012, the launch of OTC Clear in 2013, and the introduction of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect in 2014, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect in 2016, and Bond Connect in 2017. He has sought to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as an offshore Renminbi hub and led HKEX’s efforts to reform its listing regime to maintain Hong Kong’s competitiveness and secure its position as a leading IPO centre.
Mr. Li was born in Beijing and grew up in Gansu. Before leaving China for further study, Mr. Li was an offshore oil worker in the North China Sea and then an editor-reporter for China Daily. After completing his Juris Doctor (JD) degree in the US, Mr. Li practiced law in New York with Davis Polk & Wardwell and Brown & Wood. Before joining HKEX, he was Chairman of JP Morgan China, prior to which he was President of Merrill Lynch China.Mr. Li obtained a BA degree in English literature from Xiamen University in 1984, an MA degree in journalism from the University of Alabama in 1988, and a JD degree from Columbia University School of Law in 1991.李小加先生自 2010 年起出任香港交易及結算所有限公司（香港交易所）集團行政總裁。自其擔任此職以來，李先生成功推動了香港交易所歷史上最為重要的多項戰略舉措，包括在 2012 年收購了全球最大的金屬定價中心倫敦金屬交易所(LME)、在 2013 年成立場外結算公司、在2014年推出「滬港通」、在2016年推出「深港通」、並在2017年推出「債券通」。 李先生積極尋求全方位強化香港作為離岸人民幣中心的角色，亦大力推動香港上市體制的改革與發展，維持香港的競爭力和鞏固香港首次公開招股中心領先的地位。李先生出生在北京，長在甘肅。李先生離開中國深造前曾是渤海油田石油工人，並曾任英文《中國日報》的編輯記者。在美國完成法律博士學位後，李先生曾在紐約的達維(Davis Polk & Wardwell) 與布朗伍德 (Brown & Wood) 律師事務所執業。加盟香港交易所前，李先生為摩根大通中國區主席；此前為美林證券中國區總裁。李先生 1984 年畢業於廈門大學，取得文學士學位（英國文學）；1988 年獲得美國阿拉巴馬大學新聞系碩士學位；1991 年取得紐約哥倫比亞大學法學博士學位。

Ransomware threat actors are upping their game, and with it the price of their ransom is getting upped too. Companies are starting to see ransom demands in the millions of dollars. Large organizations with significant security controls in place are still falling prey to the attackers tactics. We'll look at how ransomware has evolved, and more importantly what to do about it.

Steve Ledzian’s career in Information Technology and Cyber Security spans more than 20 years, 10 years of which have been spent living in Asia Pacific. As FireEye’s Chief Technology Officer for APAC, he advises public and private sector organizations on how they can build a workable framework for a modern and mature security posture.Steve is a prolific public speaker and has delivered keynotes at a great variety of events covering a myriad of security topics. He specializes in taking the highly technical subject matter of cyber security and turning it into plain language, which can be easily understood by non-technical executives.

Prior to joining FireEye, Steve managed the Security Specialist Sales Engineering team for Cisco Systems in Asia, which he joined through Cisco's acquisition of IronPort. Prior to relocating to Asia he worked in Silicon Valley startups for over 10 years.

Steve has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science from Rutgers University.

With the aim of developing Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) into a smart airport city, AAHK has decided to invest, build and operate an enterprise 5G infrastructure to facilitate the airport community and mobile network operators to run 50 services at HKIA. With higher connection speeds, greater capacity, improved reliability and lower latency, the enterprise 5G infrastructure will enable new applications and mass deployment of IoT at HKIA to help drive innovation and technology development to enhance passenger experience and operational efficiency.

As Executive Director, Engineering & Technology of the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK), he is responsible for the technology development of Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), management of its assets and delivery of engineering projects to develop HKIA into a smart airport city. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, classes at schools and universities have successfully migrated to synchronous online teaching and learning in weeks. Crusher Wong, Ph.D., is the Senior Manager (e-Learning) in the Office of the Chief Information Officer at City University of Hong Kong. Before joining CityU, he received a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Western Ontario. As a physics lecturer, Crusher introduced WebCT, the first widely adopted learning management system (LMS) for tertiary education, to the CityU community in 1998. Subsequently, he has taken the responsibility of the management and development of e-learning at the university. His latest challenge is to enable real-time teaching and assessments online.

How can an organisation prepare itself for the New Normal? DBS Bank Hong Kong began its digital transformation in 2014 and has as a result equipped its staff with the tools & capabilities to continue serving customers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jeff currently heads up the LinkedIn office in Hong Kong with a focus in the Talent, learning and employee engagement solution comprising functions of sales and relationship management. He is a seasoned sales leader and a sales veteran in the technology and Human Resources space. Prior to his career at LinkedIn, Jeff was a Talent Acquisition leader with experience in agencies as well as in-house at adidas group. Jeff opened the Hong Kong office for Endaba, a UK boutique executive search and talent intelligence firm, and led the office as the managing director overseeing business development and operations. Jeff was educated in Northern Ireland where he developed a love for competitive sports. He was an avid rugby player and was the captain of the Hong Kong sevens team. Aside from his professional career, Jeff is also a co-founder of Warrior Muay Thai and Warrior academy, a boutique fitness gym with a focus on building community and sparking health consciousness.

The pandemic has fundamentally changed the workplace. Systemic risk, robots, employee data, and employee power are already causing shocks to your system. Mr Michael Fung has over 40 years of IT services experience of which over 30 years on healthcare IT. He is currently the Chief Information Officer of the CUHK Medical Centre. Michael joined the CUHK Medical Centre in 2016 and is responsible for the adoption of IT initiatives and setting up of the IT systems for the hospital. His work started from the initial IT strategic planning, selection of technologies and clinical applications, implementation and support of the IT infrastructure and application systems. Prior to joining the CUHK Medical Centre, he had served in the Hospital Authority’s IT department for 26 years.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, such as deep learning (DL), reinforcement learning (RL), and generative adversarial networks (GANs) play a pivotal role in studying the biology of aging and disease on many levels. Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD will present Insilico Medicine's latest results in the generation of novel small molecule leads using the Generative Adversarial Networks and Reinforcement Learning, as well as the multi-modal biomarkers of human aging and age-related diseases.

Alex Zhavoronkov, PhD, is the founder and CEO of Insilico Medicine (insilico.com), a leader in next-generation artificial intelligence technologies for drug discovery, biomarker development. He is also the founder and CEO of Deep Longevity, Inc, a global company developing a broad range of artificial intelligence-based biomarkers of aging and longevity. Since 2015 he invented critical technologies in the field of generative adversarial networks (GANs) and reinforcement learning (RL) for generation of the novel molecular structures with the desired properties and generation of synthetic biological and patient data. He also pioneered the applications of deep learning technologies for prediction of human biological age using multiple data types, transfer learning from aging into disease, target identification, and signaling pathway modeling. Under his leadership Insilico raised over $50 million in multiple rounds from expert investors, opened R&D centers in 6 countries and regions, and partnered with multiple pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic institutions. Prior to founding Insilico, he worked in senior roles at ATI Technologies (acquired by AMD in 2006), NeuroG Neuroinformatics, Biogerontology Research Foundation. Since 2012 he published over 130 peer-reviewed research papers, and 2 books including “The Ageless Generation: How Biomedical Advances Will Transform the Global Economy” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013). He serves on the editorial boards of Aging Research Reviews, Aging, Trends in Molecular Medicine, Frontiers in Genetics, and co-chairs the Annual Aging Research, Drug Discovery and AI Forum (7th annual in 2020) at Basel Life, one of Europe's largest industry events in drug discovery. He is the adjunct professor of artificial intelligence at the Buck Institute for Research of Aging.

Dr Crystal Fok is currently the Director for the AIR Platform and Precision Engineering at Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). She is mainly responsible for the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (A.I.R) initiative in Science Park to drive innovation and technology for reindustrialisation, especially in Construction, Logistics, Smart manufacturing and Professional Service sectors. Prior to HKSTP, Dr Fok was a Manager at ASTRI, managing a diverse project portfolio, such as market analysis, feasibility studies, product development and technology commercialization. She was also a Consultant at the Hong Kong Productivity Council, managing the optical design team and providing consultancy service on precision manufacturing.

Mr. Kevin Wong is a young entrepreneur cofounding an AI startup, Datax. After completing his bachelor's degree of BBA(IS) and Computer Science in HKU, he teamed up with a few energetic technical partners to build AI related solutions to tackle pain points faced by AI developers and corporations who are willing to adopt AI solutions. During Covid-19 pandemic, his team has developed and launched two solutions; one applying OCR to help SMEs evaluate loan eligibility by analyzing bank statements and company documents; one applying speech-to-text technology to help video content producers automatically prepare Cantonese subtitle.

Ms. Kedi Wang is currently a data science manager at Intact Financial (HK), she has relocated to HongKong from Canada in early 2020 to help kicking off the brand new Hong Kong office of Intact Lab. The parent company, Intact Financial Corporation (TSX: IFC), is the largest general (cars, homes, business) insurance in Canada with the goal of becoming an AI leader in the global insurance industry.

Kedi has a very diverse background prior to relocating to HK. She holds a bachelor degree in actuarial science and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, she then has worked both in developing large scale machine learning projects (insurance rating, investment) as well as playing a key role in Intact’s M&A team with the mandate of shaping Intact’s M&A strategy and executing M&A transactions.

Felix is the executive committee of Cyber Security Specialist Group in Hong Kong Computer Society and a Partner in PwC’s Risk Assurance practice with 10 years of extensive experience. He started his career as an ethical hacker and personally committed to help companies in HK to improve their security postures and deal with cyber-attacks more efficiently. Given the nature of cybersecurity – an area that is very difficult to justify Return on Investment (ROI), Felix developed real-life attack simulation methodology and tools with PwC HK and helped his clients to transform on their cyber journeys. Felix’s key areas of expertise and experience include IT governance, IT security framework, application and data security, IT risk, security management, technology architecture and ethical hacking focusing on high security network, web and mobile applications.

Jason is a Partner and lead the Technology Risk practice of EY’s Financial Services Consulting business based in Hong Kong. He has 14 years of professional technology risk and privacy related consulting, compliance, technical assessment and audit, governance setup, FinTech and RegTech advisory, incident investigation, change management, implementation and training programme delivery experiences at executive level. On voluntary basis, he is a featured information security speaker in public seminars, regional conferences, media, guest lecturer in universities and advisors to leading think-tanks.

He also has received the Gold Award in the Banking and Finance Sector of Cyber Security Professionals Awards of 2017, bestowed by the Hong Kong Police Force and HKCERT.

He has Master of Laws and Bachelor of Engineering in Information Engineering (1st class honours) degrees. He is a Fellow of HKICPA, member of IET, holds CISA, CISM and CISSP certificates.

Mr David Chan is a seasoned banking professional. He joined Livi Bank Limited (“Livi”) in April 2019 as the Head of Compliance, Operational & Fraud Risk Management and assumed the management role in the development and oversight of control systems to ensure compliance of legal and regulatory guidelines and internal policies. In June 2020, David has been appointed as the Director of Operations in Livi to manage the bank-wide operations and customer services.

Prior to joining Livi, David has held various senior positions in the banking industry, viz. Deputy General Manager of Legal & Compliance and Operational Risk Management in Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, Vice President of Consumer Banking in DBS Bank (Hong Kong) Limited and Senior Systems Consultant in ABN AMRO Bank Hong Kong Branch. David has a Master of Science degree in Information Systems and a Master of Arts degree in Quantitative Analysis.

Dr James Lei worked at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, Panasonic Research, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was the President of New Jersey Chinese Computer Professionals Society, the Director of Chinese Association of Science and Technology, and Beijing Overseas Scientific Advisory Board. He was the Co-founder of Guangzhou International High-Tech Incubation Centre. Dr Lei has more than 100 publications in journals, conferences, and patent applications. His research has led to several technology startups. His research has won several international recognition, such as the 2011 CES Innovations Award, 2008 Taiwan Excellence Award, and 2007 IBM/Microsoft Consensus Award.

His team has won the runner up finalist award at 2012 Grand Challenge Competition at the ACM International Conference on Distributed Event-Based Systems, and entered top 5% rank at the 2013 KDD Cup data mining competition. He received a Meritorious Award for International Mathematical Contest in Modeling by SIAM in 1989. He obtained Bachelor’s degree from Beijing University, and PhD degree from Brown University.

雷志斌博士曾任職貝爾實驗室、朗訊科技、松下美國信息實驗室和香港中文大學。他曾出任美國新州華人電腦協會主席、中國旅美科技協會常務理事及北京首批海外專家諮詢團成員。雷博士聯合創立廣州國際科技創業園。雷博士曾發表超過一百多篇的刊物和會議論文，並獲得多項專利，創立多家高科技企業。他的研究獲得多項國際獎項，包括2011年國際消費電子展(CES)創新獎、2008年台灣優秀電子產品獎及2007年IBM / 微軟家庭媒體中心設計獎。

Although the Hospital Authority (HA) has been developing digital health systems for nearly 30 year it is only recently with the availability of ubiquitous computing and networks that the dream of the Smart Hospital has become truly attainable. Pilot Smart Hospitals will focus on the Smart Ward, Smart Clinic and the Hospital Command Centre. The Smart Products that are being deployed in the HA pilots will be described, as well as the impact that COVID-19 has had in accelerating the innovation model in HA.

NT Cheung is the Head of Information Technology & Health Informatics and Chief Medical Informatics Officer of the Hospital Authority (HA) and also the Consultant for eHealth for the Hong Kong Government. He has taken HA from a virtual “green fields” site to today’s situation where every patient has a complete interoperable electronic patient record which can be accessed by his/her clinical carers in any of the 43 hospitals and 120+ clinics of the HA. The HA’s Clinical Management System (CMS) has been integrated into all the major care delivery process, providing decision support, workflow enablement, and informs the management and planning functions at all levels. His current work focuses on the next generation of the Hospital Authority’s Clinical Management System (CMS), HA’s single integrated patient app (HA Go), and the Smart Hospital concept. Together these will enable new enhanced healthcare service delivery models, with patient-centric personalised care, advanced data driven decision support and risk prediction and enhanced clinical communications and operations.He also works with the Government to operate and further develop the territory-wide Electronic Health Record Sharing System (eHRSS) and the wider eHealth ecosystem in Hong Kong. Internet of Things (IoT) provides the efficient building blocks for data collection and aggregation. Ways to measure IoT performance will be crucial to the development of IoT solution, in particular for smart cities. At this point, there is NO universal standard on smart sensors nor quantitative methods to measure IoT performance (and thus combat IoT security). This talk will brief the use and applications of IEEE P2668 IoT Maturity Index (IDex) and the migration towards IoT Best Practices for the industry.

Mr Lai is an expert in Industry 4.0 (i4.0) and Enterprise 4.0 (e4.0) business transformation, as well as digital product development, with experience in local and overseas market development.Prior to joining HKPC, Mr Lai worked in General Electric (GE) for more than 20 years. He successfully completed the management trainee programme in the information technology department of the multinational company, and then had also served in their internal audit and finance functions. He also spearheaded his expertise across other business units, such as aviation, capital, healthcare, plastics, power, transportation, etc., among various regions including Greater China, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Switzerland, the United States, etc. He also assumed regional and global responsibilities to drive the business growth for various industries, such as energy storage, mining, marine, rail, renewable energy, thermal power generation, etc.Mr Lai held the Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) and Master of Philosophy (Computer Science) degrees from the University of Hong Kong.黎少斌先生於2018年加入生產力局，現任首席數碼總監，帶領團隊開拓數碼轉型、機械人及人工智能、智能製造、和內地業務的發展，是工業4.0 (i4.0) 和企業4.0 (e4.0) 的應用技術專家；黎先生熟悉數碼市場趨勢，並擁有豐富的本地與海外業務拓展經驗，銳意透過生產力局的服務協助企業升級轉型。

黎先生持有香港大學電腦工程學學士學位和電腦科學研究碩士學位。

Dr Crystal Fok is currently the Director for the AIR Platform and Precision Engineering at Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP). She is mainly responsible for the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (A.I.R) initiative in Science Park to drive innovation and technology for reindustrialisation, especially in Construction, Logistics, Smart manufacturing and Professional Service sectors.

Prior to HKSTP, Dr Fok was a Manager at ASTRI, managing a diverse project portfolio, such as market analysis, feasibility studies, product development and technology commercialization. She was also a Consultant at the Hong Kong Productivity Council, managing the optical design team and providing consultancy service on precision manufacturing.

Mr Dyson Yu is a long-time digital veteran and pioneer with more than 20 years of experience in digital commerce gained from multinationals in APAC leadership roles. He is currently with Wynn Resorts in Macau, leading its digital function to drive customer acquisition, e-commerce sales and brand preference. He was previously with Marriott International spearheading a region-wide digital distribution agenda, and with The Walt Disney Company in various managerial positions across e-commerce, television media and technology. He is a frequent international speaker on digital strategy. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Henley Business School, a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London, and a Master of Science degree from the University of Hong Kong specializing in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Mr. Raymond Chan Wing Fung is well-known as the founder of the first virtual banking, inMotion of CITIC Bank, the first ever remote account opening in Hong Kong to do without physical branch, wet signature and address proof.
He is currently Managing Director of 9F International, a subsidiary of 9F Group (NASDAQ: JFU), and is responsible for applying financial licences, including Virtual Bank licenses in Hong Kong, Singapore, Lithuania and China. He is also responsible for “Tech Enabling” businesses in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia markets.

Raymond has been working in the banking industry for more than 25 years, with 20 years in management positions from HSBC, Standard Chartered, ICBC to CITIC.

Raymond received Bachelor of Science (Engineering) - Electronics from University of Hong Kong, MBA from Chinese University of Hong Kong. Rockson Hsu is currently the Chief Executive Officer of ZA Bank Limited.Rockson has 27 years of banking experience in wholesale & investment banking and risk management with major foreign and local banks in Hong Kong and Mainland China. Prior to joining ZA Bank in May 2019, he was Chief Risk Officer of a listed bank in Hong Kong.Rockson graduated from NYU Stern School of Business with a Bachelor degree in Finance and International Business.
