Information Technology is today a key component in almost every
industry, supporting growth, quality and standards of customer
service, as well as helping to drive down costs. In many cases,
including finance, transportation, trading and telecommunications,
Hong Kong's industries have been recognized as world leaders
in their own right due to their successful deployment of IT
as a key component of their respective service strategies.
To further promote the use of IT, stimulate
innovation and competitiveness in the IT industry and raise
public awareness of IT application and development, the Hong
Kong Computer Society (HKCS) each year organizes an industrial
award programme - the IT Excellence Awards to recognize, encourage
and promote the world class application of IT in Hong Kong.
