Mr Spencer Fung is the CEO and Founder of Optix Solutions Limited, with over 25 years of experience in R&D, entrepreneurship, and business innovation. A pioneer in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data, he is passionate about developing practical algorithms to solve complex real-world problems.

Spencer’s research in artificial intelligence focuses on heuristics and efficient approximation algorithms that generate high-quality solutions within practical time frames. His work applies a range of computational techniques to address constraint satisfaction and optimization problems, with real-world applications in areas such as scheduling, rostering, and resource allocation. Combining deep technical expertise with strong project management capabilities, he has led complex projects across diverse sectors, including transportation, manufacturing, engineering and construction, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations.

In 2015, Spencer developed Hong Kong’s first AI-driven predictive maintenance and operations optimization system, transforming traditional industries by enabling lower-skilled workers to perform high-skill tasks. In 2022, he went on to invent an AI-powered vetting system that automates construction quality assurance processes, addressing long-standing grey areas in conventional practice and substantially raising quality standards.
