Dr. Hon. Samson TAM Wai-ho, JP Legislative Councilor (Information Technology Functional Constituency), The Government of the HKSAR
With emergence of the knowledge-based network economy, the application of ICT is growing more and more important to our life. Advancing mobile technologies and the Internet, widely application of cloud computing as well as prevalent social media have derived a series of new modes of commerce and communication and new patterns of entertainment, which aim to bring a variety of new opportunities. However, the developments also bring a lot of new challenges to us. For instance, how to accelerate transformation of the majority of SMEs to the knowledge-based network economic development? How to formulate a prospective talents training plan? How to implement the sustainable development of society as a whole? Those issues are worth our further discussion.
I am glad that Hong Kong International Computer Conference 2011 takes the role to offer an important annual and education platform for ICT professionals and industry players to exchange views and share knowledge and experience.
I would like to extend my warm congratulation to the Hong Kong International Computer Conference 2011 and wish it another resounding success this year!
Mr. Stephen MAK Hung-sung, BBS, JP Government Chief Information Officer, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, The Government of the HKSAR
