Dr. Ng Nam

Biography

Ng Nam is the former Director of Computer Centre, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) for over 17 years. After retirement, he is currently the Project Director, IT Integration in Administration in HKU. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical Engineering) at HKU in 1967. He then went on for further studies in Canada and obtained a Master of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) degree at the University of British Columbia and a Doctor of Philosophy (Computer Science) at the University of Alberta. Dr Ng started his career at the HKU Computer Centre in 1973. He became the Director of Computer Centre in 1990 and also concurrently served as the Director of Joint Universities Computer Centre (JUCC) and Chairman of the JUCC Steering Committee. Dr Ng retired from the HKU Computer Centre in June 2007 and has since been overseeing an ERP project for Human Resource Management in the University. His academic interest includes computer networking, next-generation Internet, high-performance and grid computing, software engineering and multimedia applications.
