ABSTRACT

The Services Model for the e-Business Enterprise

The Internet is a global business revolution. It provides new channels and markets on a global basis, breaking through the barrier of time and location in expanding businesses. It challenges our traditional way of conducting business, building up partnerships and interaction with our customers. It compels us to re-write our business rules and processes, forcing us to redefine Supply Chain Management.

Only companies that can successfully transform themselves into e-Businesses will win in the fiercely competitive global and domestic marketplaces in the new millennium.

There are four important steps for a company to become an e-Business something we call the "e-Business cycle". They are:

STEP 1: Transform

The process in which you evaluate your business to see which of your present processes can benefit from connecting to the Web.

STEP 2:Build

Developing your Web applications based on a set of standards that allow them to run anywhere.

STEP 3:Run

Creating a flexible and responsive network infrastructure in which to deploy your e-Business.

STEP 4:Leverage

Analyzing the data and experience you are gaining through your e-Business and using that to further competitive advantage.

Each of these steps is going to take expertise. More than just a webmaster, and maybe more than a company has at its fingertips in-house.

It might mean partnering with experts outside the organization, and that takes open-mindedness and a willingness to collaborate.

During his presentation, Mr Adair will analyze the strategies for business organizations to go through the e-business cycle to become e-Businesses. In particular, he will focus on the expertise and skills required for each of these four stages, and examine harnessing internal resources versus external services.
