Mr James W Jarrett President Intel China James W Jarrett, president of Intel China, is responsible for development and implementation of Intel's strategy in the Peoples� Republic of China. He also serves as the company's primary link to the government of China. The PRC is among the company's fastest growing markets, and Mr Jarrett serves as the corporation's senior officer in the country. He reports to Dr Craig Barrett, Intel's president and chief executive officer, and to the co-general managers of Intel's Asia-Pacific operations, vice presidents John Breslin and Jason Chen. Immediately prior to his present job, Mr Jarrett was Intel's vice president of investor relations, heading the group that has worldwide responsibility for the company's relationships with its approximately 900,000 stockholders as well as the world's professional financial community. In 1996, he was co-recipient of the "Best Investor Relations Officer" award in a poll of financial analysts conducted by Investor Relations Magazine. Intel ranks among the world's top 15 most valuable stocks, based on total market value. Mr Jarrett joined Intel in 1979 as the company's first manager of corporate communications. Over the next decade, he built a group responsible for Intel's relationships with governments, the news media, investors, communities, Intel employees, and customers. During the 1980's, he was involved in a number of key industry-government initiatives, including the creation of Sematech, a jointly funded research consortium credited with playing an important role in the turnaround of the US semiconductor industry. Mr Jarrett serves on the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, and the Board of Directors of the U S Information Technology Office. Before joining Intel, Mr Jarrett's career included positions with two New York-based communications counseling firms, and service with the US Army at the US Military Academy, West Point, New York. He is a 1966 graduate of Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio, where he received his degree in history. He and his wife, Laurie, have three daughters.
