Distinguished Speaker Luncheon: Prof. Niklaus Wirth, ‘Father of
Pascal’
22 January 2015, Hong Kong Computer Society and Hong
Kong Baptist University were joining hands to organise
a Distinguished Speaker Luncheon with Prof. Niklaus
Wirth, “Father of Pascal”, an internationally renowned
and pioneering computer scientist for developing
the Pascal and various programming language that
influenced a generation of students and professional
programmers. He has received many prizes and honorary
doctorates, including the Turing Award (1984). The topic
of the luncheon was “Is Software Engineering the realm
of rigorous mathematical engineering, of pragmatics, or
of hackers and tinkerers?”
香港電腦學會和香港浸會大學於2015年1月22日聯
手舉辦傑出講者午餐會，邀請到「Pascal之父」尼
克勞斯．維爾特教授。他是國際知名的電腦科學家
先驅，發展了Pascal和多種程式語言，影響了一整
代的學生和專業程度編寫員。他獲得很多獎項和榮
譽博士學位，包括圖靈獎（1984）。午餐會的主題
為「軟件工程究竟是嚴謹數學、工程、語用學、黑
客，還是通才的領域？」
