While “Smart City” has brought many people a better life,
Ir. Stephen Lau, JP, chairperson of HKICC 2014 Organising
Committee, commented that “we cannot ignore any
lurking dangers that could result in far-reaching
damages. Cyber-attacks and breach of personal data
privacy are two of the serious issues being put under the
spotlight in recent years.” The panel on the “How to Deal
with the Inevitable Cyber Attack in the Smart City”, and
the keynote on “Privacy Rights and Issues in a Smart and
Mobile Society” by Mr. Allan Chiang, SBS, would aptly
remind participants the importance of staying vigilant
in this regard.
As in previous years, HKICC 2014 received unfailing
support from industry practitioners, major corporations,
government offices, and academic circles. Its success
had once again demonstrated the collective strength
of the ICT Industry as a whole, and the ability of HK
Computer Society in achieving higher acclaim for this
flagship event in the years ahead.
