Seminar: Does Agile work in large organisations?

HKSPIN and SESG co-organised a seminar on the topic

of “Does Agile work in large organisations?” on 30 July

2014. Two Agile coaches, Mr. Steven Mak and Mr. Viktor

Grgic shared their real life stories where Agile / Scrum

teams deliver a product increment after every 1-3

weeks. They also presented an overview of a large scale

agile framework called LeSS, and how this is applied

in working with large 24/7 software products with

multiple teams, and how they deliver every 1-3 weeks.

Site Visit: Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal

PMSG organised a site visit to Cathay Pacific Cargo

Terminal (built and operated by Cathay Pacific) on 1

August 2014. A group of 20 HKCS members were briefed

by the System Architect on the challenges in the design

and construction of the cargo terminal. Then, the group

walked through the terminal and appreciated the high

degree of automation and the complexity of integration

among machinery, material handling systems and

information systems. The group learnt a lot on how

various technologies empower the terminal operations

in such an efficient manner to maintain Hong Kong as

one of the busiest airport in the world.

講座:敏捷是否適用於大機構?

香港軟件及系統過程改善專題組和軟件工程專家組於

2014年7月30日合辦主題為「敏捷是否適用於大機

構」的講座。兩名敏捷教練麥天志先生和Viktor Grgic

先生分享了他們的真實故事,當中Agile/Scrum隊伍

每隔1至3星期送達產品增量。他們亦演示了一個名為

LeSS的大型敏捷框架的概要,並展示了如何在大型

24/7軟件產品中於多個隊伍中應用,以及他們如何每

1至3星期送達產品。

實地考察:國泰航空貨運站

項目管理專業小組於2014年8月1日舉辦實地考察,到

訪由國泰航空興建和營運的國泰航空貨運站。系統架

構師向一行共20人的香港電腦學會會員簡介了貨運站

設計和建築面對的挑戰。其後,會員穿過貨運站,欣

賞其高度自動化、機械組合的複雜程度、物料處理系

統和資訊系統。會員獲益良多,得悉不同的技術如何

高效率地促進貨運站運作,保持香港作為全世界最繁

忙機場的地位。
