Hong Kong Cyber Campus - Shaping the Education of the Next Millennium

This paper describes the work of building the "Hong Kong Cyber Campus", a large-scale virtual campus linking up universities, secondary and primary schools, and the public in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Cyber Campus now connects over 600 secondary and primary schools to the Internet, and provides centralized network resources, services, and technical support to schools. Hong Kong Cyber Campus web-site (http://www.hkcampus.net/) is the first Hong Kong Education Portal, containing rich educational information, news, learning activities, and active discussions. The web-site facilitates interactions among schools and universities, students and teachers, and fosters the development and sharing of educational content. Hong Kong Cyber Campus plays a key role in promoting web-based teaching and learning for schools in Hong Kong, by steering the direction and providing the necessary resources and support.
