Professor P C Wong Director, Hong Kong Cyber Campus Department of Information Engineering The Chinese University of Hong Kong Professor P C Wong received his BSc, MPhil and PhD degrees all from the Department of Electronics Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 1983, 85, and 89 respectively. He returned to CUHK in 1991 and became an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Engineering. He has invented several leading-edge multimedia networking systems including: MAGNET - A Medical Imaging Network System for transmitting medical images among hospitals, VIOLA - A Video-on-demand system on PC local area networks, and Hong Kong School Net !V an Internet for delivering schools, students, and teachers. Hong Kong School Net won the IT Award in Education in 1998, and VIOLA won the IT Excellence Award (Merit) in 1999. Professor Wong is now the Director of Hong Kong Cyber Campus, an initiative to connect more than 600 secondary and primary schools and 600,000 students and teachers, providing rich education information and resources. Professor Wong is now serving in the Board of Education, the IT sub-committee of Education Commission, IT Think Thank of Education Department, CDC Information Technology Subject Committee, and the Assessment Subcommittee of the Quality Education Fund. |
