Security on e-Commerce

The popularity and usage of Internet has been increasing significantly since early'90s. Many business organizations have already started or have been looking into exploring business opportunities in e-Commerce. As they understand that using Internet technology can reduce costs and overhead, and improve timeliness, efficiency and speed of transaction processing; certainly, it can also increase their market penetration and market share.

Although the technology is ready and mature, yet, the growth rate of e-Commerce does not appear growing in the same proportion as the usage of Internet. Since many business organizations and the general public still have concerns in transacting via Internet, with issues such as, authenticity, integrity, confidentiality, non-repudiation and legal commitment of the data transmitted and business transactions in the Cyberspace.

It appears that security is one of the major hurdles against the growth of e-Commerce. We will go through and discuss security issues regarding Internet and network connectivity, hacking activities, cryptography, public key infrastructure, certificate authority and other technologies as well as business framework to deal with the above-mentioned concerns and issues.
